Silicone roof coatings for commercial roofs

Silicone is one coating chemistry, not a universal roof repair. Evaluate the proposed product against the substrate, existing coatings, drainage and future maintenance needs.

Read the product-specific requirements

Some silicone products are designed for resistance to ponding water. For example, Henry lists ponding-water resistance for Pro-Grade 988. That property does not establish that every roof is a suitable candidate or remove the need to examine drainage.

Compare the complete system

  • Existing substrate and compatibility of previous coatings.
  • Cleaner, primer and detail reinforcement requirements.
  • Repair scope and treatment of suspect wet areas.
  • Future repair products and maintenance instructions.

The silicone-versus-acrylic comparison provides questions to use with a contractor.

Ask what evidence supports selection

Request a specification tied to your roof and documented adhesion testing where required. Product category alone does not establish bond strength, warranty eligibility or building-specific performance.

This is planning information, not a site assessment or installation procedure. Use current product documents, qualified personnel and site-specific requirements for a project decision.

Start with the roof you have.

Share your property city, roof type if known, and the decision you need to make. Project availability and contracting arrangements are confirmed directly.
