Acrylic roof coatings for commercial roofs

Acrylic roof coatings are water-based systems whose suitability depends on roof preparation, drainage and product requirements. Identify the system and its limits before comparing prices.

Start with the drainage and substrate

Ask how persistent water, previous coatings and contaminated surfaces affect the specified product. GAF provides an acrylic system for asphaltic substrates with system-specific preparation guidance. One system’s specification should not be applied to a different substrate.

Plan the application window

Ask the installer to identify the product’s weather, drying and recoat requirements in writing. Agree on what happens if the roof is not ready or weather interrupts the work. The occupied-building work plan addresses access and tenant coordination.

Compare options on equal terms

Use the silicone and acrylic decision table and bid comparison worksheet to compare repairs, primers, details and closeout requirements alongside the coating product.

This is planning information, not a site assessment or installation procedure. Use current product documents, qualified personnel and site-specific requirements for a project decision.

Start with the roof you have.

Share your property city, roof type if known, and the decision you need to make. Project availability and contracting arrangements are confirmed directly.
